power tower
Background
Power Tower is the world's first office high-rise with unique building qualities, based on sustainability by design. The development comprises a two-storey flat building and a 73-metre high office tower with 19 floors. It has a net floor area of 22,652 square meters.
Scope
Power Tower, the new headquarters of Energie AG Oberösterreich in Linz, Austria was designed to
reflect the progressiveness of the company and set new standards. In order to complement what the
designer was trying to achieve, Lounge, Oxidium and Gems Series’ by RAK Ceramics were chosen. A key objective for the project planner, Professor Wolfgang Kaufmann was "to create high quality, pleasant working conditions".
Results
8,000 square meters of RAK Ceramics tiles were used in the entrance, lobby and event rooms of the building. Specifically 5,000 square meters of the black version of Gems, stylish double-coated fine stoneware with arresting natural looking veins and fine structural deviations, and 3,000 square meters of Oxidium in platinum shade. With its shimmering surface Oxidium resembles an oxidized metal, an effect heightened still further by the use of generously large sized tiles 60x90cm. RAK Ceramics Gems and Oxidium have left a lasting impression that is highly appreciated by visitors to the building.
