Pledges Further Commitment on World Environment Day

[Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, 06 June 2012] – In recognition of its continuous efforts to protect the environment, RAK Ceramics, the world’s largest ceramic tiles and bathware manufacturing company, has been honoured with a certificate of appreciation from Emirates Environmental Group (EEG).

The company received the certificate of appreciation for actively participating in the Can Collection Campaign 2011-2012 by Emirates Environmental Group. The Certificate was presented at a special event organised by EEG at the Knowledge Village Conference Centre, on World Environment Day, to honour champions for the environment and in RAK Ceramics case, those who supported the organisation’s campaigns during the year 2011 - 2012.

Abdulla Mahmood, General Manager of Marketing and Corporate Communications for RAK Ceramics, commented, “This honor recognizes the efforts of the entire workforce of RAK Ceramics, all of whom are supporters of the company’s environmental protection efforts,” he said. “We hold this certificate in high esteem, as we pride ourselves in being proactive in promoting sustainability by setting an example to others in order to encourage a responsible approach to achieving growth and development.”

RAK Ceramics has been responsible for pioneering a wide range of green initiatives including numerous Clean-up Campaigns, Can Collection Campaigns, the Emirates Road Clean-up.

Most recently,the company made a pledge to collect 200 Kg of aluminum cans waste by the end of the month coinciding with its participation in the “One Root, One Communi-Tree” programme, organised by the EEG.

“Theseare further demonstrations of our commitment and dedication to saving the environment,” adds Mahmood. “If we reach our targets, EEG has promised to plant a tree in RAK Ceramics name under the “One Root, One Communi-Tree” programme.

For each and every recognition we attain is not only a testament to our efforts, but also a catalyst for future endeavours,” he concludes. “We continue to ask ourselves, on a daily basis, what more we can do for our community and the environment.”
